Schools will continue to be visited to introduce the project and to sensitise the school management and early grade teachers for challenges of children in transition. Representatives of the school management committees are coached to conduct a need assessment in terms of an age-appropriate learning environment. Measures of enhancement will inform development of School Improvement Plans and at least one visible upgrading will be achieved during the year, preferably a natural playground or enhancement of classrooms or adequate learning material.

Standard 1 teachers are being motivated to join the Learning Groups and establish procedures in favour of a smooth transition into primary school. Schools will be supported to hold parental workshops as well as parent days for children transitioning to Standard 1 and to plan these days with the ECD centres.
