Our Work Today
Currently the department has CCAP International Pre – School within Mzuzu city which acts as the role model, conducts refresher courses for Trainer of trainers to share knowledge and experiences to both ECD committees and caregivers, Provides play materials to ECD centers. At present 508 ECD centers have been established, with over1000 volunteer caregivers and 21 Trainer of Trainers whose job is to train caregivers and to monitor ECD centers have been trained.
Furthermore the department has embarked on a feeding program in 5 districts; Chitipa Wenya, Karonga, Rumphi, Mzimba north, Nkhatabay and Dwangwa feeding over 5000 ECD children. All these initiatives have seen 2000 children transitioning from ECD to primary schools each year. All this is being implemented through the funding from well wishers and funds from fundraising activities which the department undertakes.
